If you want to be happy - read it, January 9, 2011 By Ido Perez - See all my reviewsThis review is from: If you want to be Happy-be (Volume 1) (Paperback) I work in a publishing house and also have a collection of chilrens books at home.
This book is brilliant! I loved the pencil illustrations and the gradual increment of color from page to page. As an adult who reads children books I see it as a cross over, and I actually consider placing it in my literature shleves, as this can truly help anyone improve their happiness, both children and adults.
This is truly a book that I'll be happy to give as presents to my friends, even those without kids.

An uplifting and inspirational gem for all ages, January 9, 2011 By Ori - See all my reviewsThis review is from: If you want to be Happy-be (Volume 1) (Paperback) We received this book yesterday as a present, and yesterday evening I have read it to my daughter. Although she is already reading independently, she also likes having books read to her in the evenings.

Surprisingly, "If you want to be Happy - Be!" turned out to be a real treat for both of us. Although the book is beautifully designed as a children's book, it conveys an important inspirational message about personal happiness for all ages. this message and the delightful way the book is written made me read with a smile, and kept me thinking long after my daughter was already asleep, another story later.

The text is both smart and joyful, not straight-forward funny but definitely winks at you and makes you smile. And the design in fabulous, with a 'Wizard of Oz'-like transition from black-and-white to a full rainbow of lovely colors, that contributes not only to the beauty of the illustrations and the book but also helps convey the message.

It took me some time to realize how smart and sophisticated the childrens' book-like design is, making the book speak the language of youngsters, while at the same time telling us adults that happiness is basically child-simple and child-naive, that we could and probably should rekindle some of the child's approach to happiness we gave up, for some reason, along the way, that we should apply in our own lives the advise for a happy life we give and wish our kids.

I'm going to read this book again to my daughter tonight, not only because she had already asked for it, but also because I'm intrigued myself to read it again and rethink how it is applicable to my own life. I'm also intrigued to discuss it with her, to see how it moves her, and maybe even to learn from her something about personal happiness. My heart tells me it will be thrilling to discuss this book with her, a rare opportunity to have a meaningful and thought-provoking child-adult dialogue.

I'm sure tonight will hardly be the last time either of us reads this book.

If You Want to Be Happy -- READ THIS!, February 12, 2011 By Debora Dyess - See all my reviewsThis review is from: If you want to be Happy-be (Volume 1) (Paperback) "If You Want to Be Happy - BE!" by Captain Avner Even-Zohar
44 pages read aloud - 5+ read alond - 12
Happiness is something that's so important that the pursuit of it is guaranteed in the United States Constitiution. Kids understand better than anybody how much happiness means in life, but that lesson is sometimes forgotten as kids grow into busy adults. In "If You Want to Be Happy - BE!" the formula for happiness is revealed. It surpasses geographics, faith and finances, and is simple enough for kids (and even adults) to understand.

The picture book is written for all ages. It would be a difficult read for younger children, but middle-aged children would enjoy both the delightful text and wonderful illustrations. Younger readers would beneit from reading aloud by an adult or older sibling, and would be engaged by pictures that start off in black-and-white but grow ever more colorful as the `secret to happiness' is revealed. Its inspirational message is appropriate for all ages.

"If You Want to Be Happy - BE!" is a life lesson best learned as kids. By penning a `how-to- of sourts for children, author Even-Zohar gives all of us a heads-up on how to keep happiness in our lives. It's not a checklist, the author assures readers, since our needs change as we grow up. It's a state of mind, and one that we can all grasp and carry into the rest of our lives. This is a great read for all ages.

If you want to be happy-be, January 12, 2011 By Dr. Don - See all my reviewsThis review is from: If you want to be Happy-be (Volume 1) (Paperback) Although written for children, the message of this book is applicable to all. The title itself is the premise. It is good to be reminded that most people can choose their attitude every morning. That choice can color your whole day...ney, your whole life. The earlier a child learns this the happier their life can be. Read this book and give it to or read it to everyone you know, January 11, 2011 By McKinney "Picky Reader" (Austin, TX USA) - See all my reviewsThis review is from: If you want to be Happy-be (Volume 1) (Paperback) This is an uplifting and insightful book about being happy. What could be more important in the world? It is good for all ages and mostly for adults who have forgotten how to be happy. We should, though, teach our children and grandchildren to be happy instead of teaching them to be worried and scared and upset all the time. I LOVE the illustrations and the message. Great book! Can't wait until they make it into a movie ;) Help other customers find the most helpful reviews Was this review helpful to you? Yes No Thank you for your feedback.Report abuse | PermalinkComment Comment  5.0 out of 5 stars
